I went to a wonderful school concert this week and the senior choir sang this beautiful song. It really touched me and  has stayed with me all week. I searched it out and it’s called ‘You will be Found’ from a musical called Dear Evan Hansen that comes to London next year. It’s about life and the way we live it and tells the story of a lonely young man who struggles to connect with others and make friends.

Evan starts by singing:

Have you ever felt like nobody was there?
Have you ever felt forgotten in the middle of nowhere?
Have you ever felt like you could disappear?
Like you could fall, and no one would hear?

If you’re feeling like this it’s a really good idea to reach out and tell someone what’s going on for you. It might feel like the hardest thing in the world to do but reaching out to a friend, colleague or family member could make all the difference. You may be finding this time of year challenging  if your life isn’t going as you planned or if you have family, relationship or other difficulties. It’s not all hugs, Christmas lights and goodies for some. If you are in emotional distress or you are struggling you may wish to consider talking therapy.  The Samaritans are also available to talk to 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They are  free to call from any phone on 116 123.

Feelings pass and so do thoughts. They never stay the same and there is always, always hope.

The song continues……

Even when the dark comes crashing through
When you need a friend to carry you
And when you’re broken on the ground
You will be found
So let the sun come streaming in
‘Cause you’ll reach up and you’ll rise again
Lift your head and look around
You will be found
